(Maryville, Missouri) Treynor won the team title at the NW Missouri High School Indoor kick-off on Saturday on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University. The Cardinals scored 108 points, Mount Ayr finished second with 72, Clarinda, third, 51, Maryville, fourth, 47, and Atlantic fifth with 43.5 out of 18-teams.
The distance medley relay opened the running events at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and Treynor set the tone early with a gold-medal performance. The Cardinals posted a winning time of 13:28.87 behind Knispel, Kotrous, Kerkman, and Miller. Creston followed in second at 13:45.43 with Adamson, Smith, Riley, and Strunck, while Atlantic placed fifth in 15:06.31 with Mendez-Cordero, Hagen, Engler, and Brock. Clarinda finished eighth.
Lane Alley of Fremont-Mills claimed gold in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94. Treynor’s Rylee Hemmingsen was close behind in second at 9.02, and Atlantic’s Jayci Reed took sixth in 10.01. Griswold’s Carsyn Adams placed eighth in 10.14.
Cora Smith won the 60-meter dash in 8.11, edging Hemmingsen of Treynor, who finished second in 8.22. Atlantic’s Stellah Van Aernam secured third with a time of 8.25. Taryn Petersen of Exira/EHK placed sixth in 8.28, and Fremont-Mills’ Reese Gute finished eighth in 8.32.
Treynor dominated the 3200-meter run, sweeping the top three spots. Lily Miller led the way in 11:44.21, followed by Anne Miller in 12:47.80 and Madalyn Kerkman in 12:55.91. Clarinda’s Riley King finished fourth in 13:03.56, and Madelynn Schaaf of Fremont-Mills took fifth in 15:52.79.
In the 400 meters, Emma Reynolds of Mount Ayr took first place with a time of 59.62. Clarinda’s Ellery Bird finished second in 59.96, and St. Albert’s Stella Simms placed third in 1:01.44. Treynor’s Knispel came in fourth at 1:01.11, while Clarinda’s Miley Wagoner finished sixth in 1:02.15.
In the field events, Delaney Mathews of Treynor led the shot-put competition with a throw of 37-00.50. Sydney Sperry of Clarinda placed fifth at 33-00.50, followed by Atlantic’s Faith Larsen in sixth with the same mark. Clarinda’s Hannah Whorl finished seventh with a throw of 32-11.25, and Atlantic’s Olivia Olson took eighth at 32-05.75.
In the long jump, Atlantic’s Lila Wiederstein claimed first place with a leap of 16-08.50. Fremont-Mills’ Lana Alley finished second at 16-00.50, while Atlantic’s Emerie Jones placed third with a jump of 15-10.50. Abby Malcom of Fremont-Mills was fourth at 15-06.00, Lenox’s Addison Junker took fifth with 15-04.25, Emma Boswell of Nodaway Valley finished sixth at 15-02.25, and Clarinda’s Aylah Johnson placed seventh with a jump of 15-00.50.
