(Greenfield) The Adair and Guthrie County Boards of Supervisors met in a joint public hearing to consider vacating a portion of 350th Street and lowering the maintenance level on the remaining section of the road.
Adjacent landowners submitted a petition requesting the closure of approximately 1,800 feet of the roadway located just off White Pole Road east of Stuart. The remaining 1,300-foot stretch was reclassified as a Level Road.
On February 4, the Adair County Board of Supervisors scheduled the joint public hearing for March 2. No comments were received from the public in either county during the hearings. Following the hearings, both boards approved the request to vacate the 1,800-foot section and to downgrade the remaining portion to Level B maintenance.
Level B roads are unpaved and receive minimal maintenance. They are intended for light, limited traffic and are typically used to provide access to farmland or rural areas rather than residences. Unlike Level A roads, which are regularly maintained and plowed in winter, Level B roads receive very little upkeep, are not plowed for snow, and may become difficult to travel after rain or snowfall.
