(Des Moines) Gasoline prices in Iowa dipped slightly over the past week, while crude oil prices also moved lower, according to AAA’s weekly fuel report.
The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa fell one cent from last week and is now $2.37 per gallon. That price is 48 cents lower than this time last year. Nationally, the average price of gas stands at $2.82 per gallon, down two cents from a week ago.
Crude oil prices declined across global markets this week. West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.49 per barrel to $56.37, while Brent crude dropped $1.01 to $60.23 per barrel. One year ago, WTI crude sold for $74.99 per barrel and Brent crude averaged $77.84.
Diesel prices in Iowa also decreased, falling five cents over the past week to a statewide average of $3.25 per gallon. That compares to an average of $3.29 per gallon one year ago. Iowa’s current diesel price is 29 cents lower than the national average of $3.54.
Heating fuel prices showed mixed movement. Natural gas prices dropped 27 cents at the Henry Hub and are currently priced at $3.50 per million British thermal units. Propane prices averaged $1.56 per gallon across Iowa, while home heating oil had a statewide average of $2.79 per gallon.
