(Underwood, IA) — Riverside Alum Molly Allen is preparing for her next step in her college wrestling career by transferring to Iowa St. starting this fall and recently won a Pan Am Tournament last week in Brazil.
Last month, Allen announced that she was leaving Oklahoma St. where she competed at the club level and will join the new Cyclone women’s wrestling program. Iowa St. is committed to wrestling a varsity schedule starting in 2027 and the Cowgirls had not committed to that so it made Allen’s decision easy
Allie St. John is the Cyclones Head Coach and Allen was familiar with her having attended some of her wrestling camps. Her roommate Daniella Nugent is also transferring to Iowa St. and the two are getting an apartment. At the club level at Oklahoma St., Allen was 20-3 for the Cowgirl Wrestling Club competing in open tournaments. She feels like she is getting stronger and better on the mat
Last week, Allen went out of the country for the first time to compete in the Under 20 Pam Am event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and she won in the 57 Kilogram division which is 125 pounds, finishing 5-0 and only allowing 4 points total
She will now prepare to head to Ames this August and decide which open tournaments she will compete in with the goal of Iowa St. starting varsity women’s wrestling next year — Allen says she will have three years of eligibility remaining.
