(Des Moines) Gasoline prices in Iowa continued to decline this week, according to AAA’s Weekly Fuel Report.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline fell 4 cents from last week to $2.38 per gallon statewide. That price is 38 cents lower than a year ago. Nationally, regular unleaded averaged $2.84 on Wednesday, down 2 cents from last week.
Crude oil prices also edged lower. West Texas Intermediate crude fell 23 cents per barrel to $57.86, while Brent crude dropped 88 cents to $61.24. One year ago, WTI crude was priced at $72.44 per barrel and Brent crude at $74.58.
Retail diesel prices in Iowa declined 1 cent this week, averaging $3.30 per gallon. That is 27 cents below the national average of $3.57. Diesel prices averaged $3.28 per gallon in Iowa one year ago.
Heating fuel prices were mixed. Natural gas prices fell 41 cents at the Henry Hub to $3.77 per million British thermal units. Propane averaged $1.58 per gallon across Iowa, while home heating oil averaged $2.81 per gallon statewide.
