(Harlan, IA) — Chayton Snethen is off to a strong start for Harlan wrestling. Snethen wrestled his freshman year at Audubon and went 25-20 but transferred to Harlan — his Dad lives in Harlan — and last year improved to a 36-23 and made it to the state tournament where he went 0-2. Snethen says it was an adjustment
Snethen says his Cyclone teammates made things easy. Snethen also says this year, he is taking wrestling much more seriously. He focused on the sport over the summer and feels like he is more prepared as a Junior
The Cyclones lost some key leaders from last year’s team and Snethen is off to the best start of all of them so he has become more of a leader and he notices the change
Snethen has some noteworthy wins — he had a close match against Wylie Brokaw of Lenox and in the third period he “turned on the turbos” and got a third period pin to win the Dan Hill Invitational on his home mat. His goal overall is like all wrestlers is to get on the podium — he lost both his matches his first time last year but has learned some things from that experience
Harlan will hit the mat in the new year with a triangular with Atlantic at Denison on Thursday, January 8th.
