(Des Moines, IA) — Data from the Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Abuse shows domestic homicides are on the rise. The coalition has recorded nearly 90 people killed in domestic violence incidents from October 2021 to September 2024. Domestic violence deaths have risen by at least five each year since October 2021. The increase is also seen in the number of people seeking support. The state’s Domestic Violence Intervention Program served less than 18-hundred people in 2018 and the number has increased to more than 32-hundred in 2025.
