(Griswold, IA) — It has been a slow start for the Griswold Boys Track and Field team — Head Coach Andy Everett says a number of the kids had injuries coming into the season from other sports. One of those injuries is with Senior thrower RJ Dishong who badly hurt his knee during football season. He had to miss the entire wrestling season but is back in competition this spring and trying to regain his form that got him to state last year in the discus
The Shuttle Hurdle team ran an impressive time last year but finished a disappointing 11th at the state meet — they lost three members off that team so there was some rebuilding to there and Everett says it is starting to come around after running just over a minute in 2025.
Everett also expects Wyatt Silk in the 110 Hurdles to continue to improve and Callen Keiser in the 400 Hurdles is lowering his time.
Overall, Everett has had to adjust because of lower numbers on his team this year. He wants everybody at their best when the district meet hits on May 14Tig
Everett has one last piece of inspiration
Griswold’s meet on Thursday at Corning was canceled because of the weather; next up will be going to Avoca for AHSTW’s meet on Monday.
