(Atlantic) The Atlantic Archery Team has a solid core of shooters returning this season. The team is coming off an 8th-place finish in 3D and a 15th-place finish in Bullseye at the State Archery Tournament last March. The Trojans posted a score of 1665 in 3D and 3294 in Bullseye, competing against 140 teams.
Head Coach Clint Roland says they have been practicing for four weeks, and the expectations are high again for this team this year.
Coach Roland says they have a large group of competitors who have been shooting at a high level. He is looking for some solid leadership from this year’s senior class.
Senior Lily Johnson is another outstanding shooter returning to the team.
Roland says another senior, Katrina Williams, who plays basketball, has been a solid contributor when she can compete. Amelia Olsen is back on the team this year.
Roland says there is also a talented group of underclassmen back on the squad, led by junior Grant Petty. In 2024, Petty finished fifth in the boys’ division of the 3D portion of the Tournament with a score of 289. Additionally, Petty joined former Trojan standout Cooper Jipsen in being named to the All-State Team in both Bullseye and 3D. Petty has shot personal best scores of 297 in 3D and 297 in Bullseye during that same regular season.
The Trojans open competition on Saturday, December 6, at Creston.
