(Atlantic) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources issued an administrative consent order to Vision Atlantic in September due to violation of Vision Atlantic’s Storm Water National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit for the construction activities at the Camblin Hills Housing Development site.
The order was issued after the Department received a complaint on April 18, 2025, about discolored water in the East Nishnabotna River near the Marne Road bridge. An investigation found tan, sediment-laden water entering the river from Bull Creek and a culvert carrying creek water under the City of Atlantic.
Vision Atlantic was asked to cease all illegal discharges to waters of the state; comply with all conditions of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit; and pay a $8,000 administrative penalty.
The penalty was paid in full on September 10th.
