(Black Hawk Co.) A police pursuit ended in a head-on crash Friday night in Black Hawk County, leaving two people injured, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
At about 10:34 p.m., troopers say a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by 24-year-old Cory Devries of Grundy Center was fleeing law enforcement while traveling south in the northbound lane of Highway 63. The car collided head-on with a fully marked Chevy Tahoe law enforcement vehicle that had its emergency lights activated. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway.
Devries was flown by Air Med to Iowa City for treatment. The Tahoe’s driver, 45-year-old Joshua Meggers of Cedar Falls, was transported to MercyOne by Hudson Ambulance.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Hudson Police Department, Hudson EMS, Hudson Fire, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office, and Rasmussen Towing. The crash remains under investigation.
