(Atlantic, IA) — So far there have been three cases of measles in the state of Iowa — two in children and one in an adult — but all three have been in the eastern half of the state. There has not been any cases in Cass County or anything in the western part of the state that has been reported. Megan Roberts, Director of Public Health in Cass County says there is no reason for concern.
Roberts says the best way to protect anyone — child or adult — from the measles is a vaccination.
Besides immunizations, Roberts says there are other things to be aware of to prevent getting the measles
If you have any further questions about vaccinations or symptoms of the measles, Roberts encourages you to contact your primary care provider. She does say that a vaccine for the measles is 95 percent effective at prevention.
