(Avoca, IA) — Its a battle of Western Iowa Conference baseball teams tonight as Tri Center plays at AHSTW, coverage on KSOM. The Trojans are coming off an 8-1 win over Treynor — Kael Witt threw 88 pitches in his 6 innings of work and only allowed one earned run on four hits, walking 2, hit 2 batters and struck out 3 to get the win. The game was actually scoreless for the first three innings and then the Trojans bats came alive with 7 runs in the 4th. Witt is valuable in many positions says Head Coach Max Kozeal but they have found a shortstop that is great defensively which has helped when Witt is on the mound because Kozeal says he is a competitor
Witt has started five of the team’s 9 games so far with different guys starting the other four so clearly Kozeal relies on him. The Junior is hitting .360 with 5 RBI but the Trojans are led in offense by two seniors — Carter Kunze is batting .429 with 2 HR and 9 RBI and Lincoln Thomas is batting .385 with 4 RBI. Kozeal says they are playing like seniors should
Tri Center comes into tonight’s game against AHSTW with a three game winning streak and even though they are 7-2 and the Vikings are 3-6, Kozeal will not take anyone for granted
The Vikings come into tonight’s game after a 20-16 slugfest win over Riverside last night. Their ace Aiden Akers is eligible to pitch tonight with only 21 pitches thrown last night. In his 4 games and 3 starts this season, the Senior is 1-2 with a 2.14 ERA with 30 strikeouts in 16 plus innings.
Game time is 7:30 tonight, coverage on KSOM.
