(Neola, IA) — Tri Center softball has lost at least 20 games the last two seasons going into this summer but there are signs of improvement so far. The Trojans have been competitive in every game this season on their way to a 2-3 start with wins over St. Albert 7-4 and Wednesday night beating Underwood 4-2. Head Coach Chad Thomas says it has not been easy considering how difficult the Western Iowa Conference is this year with tough teams like Riverside, Missouri Valley and others
Thomas used a rotation in the circle with two different pitchers — Senior Hayden Thomas is 2-0 with a 1.27 ERA with only 5 walks and 13 strikeouts and Sophomore Caitlin Greiner is 0-2 with a 4.20 ERA with 14 walks and 4 strikeouts but Thomas says they compliment each other well and give teams a different look
Hayden Thomas and Greiner also lead the team in hitting — Chad Thomas says they are softball number one players and although they are only hitting .206 as an entire team, they have not struggled in scoring runs although Thomas says he would like the bats to improve
The schedule does not get any easier, Tri Center visits Missouri Valley tonight (Thursday), they host IKM Manning on Friday and host Treynor Monday.
