(Phoenix) The statue at an Arizona luxury resort that crushed an Iowa boy in November was not secure at its base. The Arizona Republic says a police report showed that the statue and another nearby at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel were not secured at the time of the accident. The report also indicates Luke Linnett, of Waukee, was climbing on the statue when it tipped and toppled on top of him. That’s when the eight-year-old was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery, but he died the following day on Thanksgiving. Police noted his sister was nearby when the statue fell. Older family members were around the corner, waiting for a food delivery.
