(Fremont Co) A coordinated law enforcement effort resulted in the arrest of a Clarinda woman following a stolen vehicle report and a foot pursuit near Emerson.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office received a report on December 8th of a vehicle stolen from a residence in Farragut by a suspect known to the victim. Shortly after the report, deputies from the Mills County Sheriff’s Office located the stolen vehicle near Emerson.
The vehicle was stopped near Highway 59 and Kroon Road, but the driver, identified as Tabatha Rose Ann Holste, 44, of Clarinda, Iowa, fled from the scene, prompting a foot pursuit.
A search involving the Fremont County K9 Unit and the Mills County Drone Unit led officers to Holste, who was found hiding in a creek south of Emerson. She was apprehended with assistance from multiple agencies, including the sheriff’s offices of Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, and Page counties, as well as the Shenandoah and Red Oak Police Departments and the Iowa State Patrol.
The stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
During a search of Holste’s person at the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office, authorities discovered approximately 1/4 pound of suspected methamphetamine.
Holste has been charged with several offenses, including:
- Possession with Intent to Distribute more than 5 grams of Methamphetamine
- Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp
- Theft 1st Degree
- Possession of Contraband in a Correctional Facility
Holste is being held at the Fremont County Jail on a $100,000 cash/surety bond and faces additional warrants from other counties.
