(Audubon) Audubon County Supervisor Chairman Heath Hanson says that with two new board members, one of their key goals is to rebuild county systems. In January, Kent Grabill and Donald Mosinski will join Hanson on the Board of Supervisors.
Hanson explains that their primary focus is establishing a clear foundation for how county government should function. This includes determining the minimum costs for essential services and working to reduce the levy as much as possible. By doing so, they aim to create a baseline that will allow for better planning and decision-making in the future.
Hanson emphasizes that achieving this baseline begins with thoroughly reviewing all budgets and personnel positions. The goal is to ensure every department in county government spends only what is necessary—no more, no less.
Next, Hanson highlights the importance of evaluating all systems, including policies, 28E agreements, and ordinances, to ensure they are up-to-date and relevant. Outdated or obsolete items within the code should be replaced with more effective measures to serve the community better.
