(Washington D.C.) Just under a week ago, President Donald Trump nominated Brooke Rollins for U.S. Secretary of Agriculture. Rollins has deep roots in agriculture, having grown up on a farm and actively participated in the Future Farmers of America and 4-H, a nationwide agricultural organization.
Rollins has been a close ally of Trump for many years, serving as the co-founder and president of the America First Policy Institute, a pro-Trump right-wing think tank. Glen Smith, a member of the Farm Credit Administration in Washington, D.C., was also nominated by President Trump in 2017. He has served as the chairman and CEO of the Farm Credit Administration for three-and-a-half years and is currently on holdover status within the agency. In addition, Rollins was a former White House aide during Trump’s first administration, where she was director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council. Having grown up on a farm and participated early on in the Future Farmers of America and 4-H, Rollins has a strong background in agriculture. She graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural development and later pursued a career as a lawyer.
