(Shenandoah) Over the weekend, dry and windy conditions in southwest Iowa led to multiple field fires, prompting volunteer fire departments to respond.
The Shenandoah Fire Department reported on social media that they were dispatched along with Coin Fire and Rescue to a growing fire in a standing bean field. Due to the weather conditions, additional support was requested, and several other fire departments and farmers arrived to help.
Special thanks were extended to Page County Communications for their efficient handling of radio traffic and Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency for providing drone assistance in assessing hot spots and overall conditions. The community was reminded to remain vigilant due to the current drought conditions and to ensure that machines are well-maintained and inspected regularly to prevent part failure.
