(Harlan) The Harlan City Council on Tuesday approved a street closing permit for the downtown Harvest Fest Celebration.
Todd Valline, Executive Director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, said Harvest Fest is Saturday, October 26th from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Harvest Fest activities include a movie (Monster House), Candy Walk around the square, kids games, Hansen House Trolley/Train Rides, Face Decorating, Petting Zoo, Spooky Stories, a bake sale, street vendors, small pumpkin decorating, cookie decorating, costume/pet costume contest, and free hot dogs.
The Harlan City Council also set Thursday, October 31 as the official date for Halloween Trick-or-Treating between the hours of 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The City encourages all participating households to turn on their porch lights to signify they are welcoming Trick-or-Treaters. The City also encourages parents and guardians to supervise their children during Trick-or-Treating and reminds motorists to drive with caution during the designated hours.
