(Atlantic) Atlantic travels to Creston on Friday night in a Class 3A District #6 football game between two teams carrying momentum after district opening wins. The Trojans knocked Knoxville 56-21, and Creston defeated Harlan in a shoot-out 43-42. The Panther’s victory over Harlan is their first win of the season. Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer says don’t let that record fool you because they played a demanding non-district schedule.
The Panthers bring a solid rushing attack with 959 yards, led by Weston Trapp’s 915 yards, 7.8 yards per carry average, and eight touchdowns. Trapp had himself a night one week ago against Harlan, with forty carries for 447 yards and six touchdowns.
Coach Brummer says Trapp will set up as a wide receiver on the wing, and he is not always in one spot. Brummer says communication will be of the utmost importance when keeping track of Weston Trapp.
The Trojans’ sport a potent rushing attack, with 2,106 yards, led by Tyson O’Brien’s 136 carries for 1,049 yards, 7.7 yards per carry, and seven touchdowns. Fullback Gavin McLaren has 56 totes for 478, made possible by an offensive line consisting of Reid Woodward, Kayden Crall, Trevan Hansen, Jack Muller, Donovan Hedrington, and Xavier Darrow. The Trojans are coming off a 56-point effort in the win over Knoxville last Friday night.
Coach Brummer says the team has turned the table and believes they can win each time they step onto the field on Friday night.
The kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at Creston on Friday night. We will broadcast the game on 95.7 F.M. and live video stream it on western Iowa today.com TV on Youtube.
