(Guthrie Center, IA) — It is kind of scary. AC/GC is ranked #1 in Class A and yet they have not played their best football yet.
Last week, the Chargers gave up some big plays and gave up some turnovers but ended up winning at Riverside 50-42. Senior Fullback Mike Fuller ran 31 times for 211 yards and 3 TD but he did fumble it three times all recovered by the Bulldogs. Fuller says the game was a learning experience
AC/GC features a triple option running attack and Fuller is in the middle of it leading the team in rushing with 692 yards; QB Jathan South has 605 and Joe Crawford has contributed 464. They rarely pass — only averaging around 3 attempts a game and Fuller says their power attack that eats up clock suits his game just fine
On defense, Fuller plays on the end and last week the Bulldogs Jaxon Gordon had some big runs so Fuller identified some areas that the team needs to improve on
Fuller says football bleeds Nebraska red in his family; he hopes one day to play college football and will pursue that after the season. In the meantime, AC/GC has fallen short of the Dome their last three seasons and Fuller believes if they stay together, good things will happen
AC/GC will visit IKM Manning this Friday.
