(Atlantic) ReAnn Cappel, former Atlantic High School graduate, is set to join an illustrious lineup of Trojan Softball legends as she is inducted into the Trojan Softball Hall of Fame. The ceremony will occur before the Trojans’ anticipated game against Denison on Thursday night.
During her tenure as a Trojan, ReAnn showcased unparalleled dedication and skill, earning the admiration of teammates and fans alike. A five-time letter winner and a four-year varsity starter from 2009 to 2013, ReAnn’s legacy in high school softball is marked by a series of remarkable achievements.
Her accolades include receiving four coveted Trojan Heads and securing notable recognitions such as Second Team Hawkeye Ten All-Conference in 2011 as a sophomore, followed by back-to-back First Team Hawkeye Ten All-Conference selections in 2012 and 2013 as a junior and senior, respectively. Notably, during her senior year, ReAnn garnered further acclaim as First Team All-District, Second Team All-Western Iowa, and Third Team All-State.
After her outstanding high school career, ReAnn continued to shine in collegiate softball. She commenced her collegiate journey at Iowa Western Community College, where her dedication extended beyond the field, earning her a spot on the All-Academic Team for the 2014/2015 season. Transitioning to Buena Vista University, ReAnn made an immediate impact, being honored as the Newcomer of the Year for the 2015/2016 season.
Returning to her roots in Atlantic post-graduation, ReAnn has become an integral part of the community. Currently employed in the Cass Health Emergency Department, she served as an EMT for Cass County EMS. Her commitment to public service extends to her role as a dedicated member of the Atlantic Fire Department for over five years, where she is also a certified drone pilot.
In her spare time, ReAnn is deeply involved in various volunteer initiatives within the community, including her invaluable contributions as a youth softball coach for two years.
