(Griswold, IA) – The Griswold Tigers are currently sitting at 5-3 at the halfway mark of their season. The five wins are good enough to already declare this the best season the Tigers have had since 2016, when they finished 14-9. Now in the Corner Conference, Griswold currently sits in second place with a record of 4-2 in conference play this season.
Head baseball coach Ryan Lockwood is happy with the development of his players in the last couple of years.
The Tigers are 4-1 in their last five games behind the bats of Zane Johnson, Bode Wyman and Kolbe Klindt who are all batting over the .400 mark on the season and have helped Griswold bat .277 as a team so far this season. The two juniors Johnson and Klindt currently rank third and fourth in the conference in batting average batting .462 and .455 respectively. Zane Johnson also leads the Corner Conference with 14 stolen bases and ranks second in runs with 13.
Junior Body Wyman has also been the ace for the Tigers on the mound this season. Wyman currently leads the conference in ERA with a 2.21, wins with three and strikeouts with 41. Griswold is running on two years without a senior on the roster and the future looks bright for the Tigers.
Coach Lockwood isn’t satisfied with the growth, but is happy with the development his team has made in past years.
Griswold will play on the road against IKM-Manning on Wednesday starting at 7:30.
