(Glenwood) Danika Arnold’s three sprint gold medals helped Glenwood win the team title on Monday at the COED Ram Relays in Glenwood won nine events and piled up 186 points.
Arnold won the 100, 200, and 400-meter races, Grace Berglund won the 3,000, Breckyn Petersen won the 400-meter Hurdles, and Jaylynn Floyd won the High Jump. Additionally, the Rams won the Shuttle Hurdle, 4×200-meter relays, and 4×400-meter Relays.
Lewis Central finished a distant second with 119 points. The Titans’ highlights included Jordan Matiyow’s top finishes in the Shot Put and discus, first-place finishes in the Sprint Medley and 4×800 Meter Relays.
Atlantic had a solid night, finishing third with 90 points. One highlight was Lila Wiederstein’s 18-01.75 performance in the Long Jump. The sophomore’s new personal mark is number 3 all-time for Atlantic. Another is Claire Pellett’s 2:20.6 800 anchor leg in the Distance Medley. Pellett, along with Hailey Huffman, Callee Pellett, and Nicole Middents, brought home gold in a time of 4:22.68. Jayci Reed won the 100-meter hurdles, and the Drake bound 4×100 4×100-meter relay finished first in a season-best time of 51.28.
Atlantic Head Coach Matt Mullenix spoke highly of his team’s effort on the track and field.
Lila Wiederstein started long jumping her freshmen year and has already leaped into the top three performances all-time in Atlantic girls’ track history.
Claire Pellett was Atlantic’s workhorse. The senior ran the 400-meter leg in the Sprint Medley, the 1500-meter, and the 4×400-meter Relay, and ran the 800 anchor leg of the winning Distance Medley Relay along with Hailey Huffman, Callee Pellett, and Nicole Middents.
Jayci Reed topped the field in the 100 Hurdles.
