(Omaha, NE) — Fentanyl pill seizures rose 83-percent last year in Iowa, Nebraska, and several Midwest states. The Drug Enforcement Administration says agents removed two-point-nine-million lethal doses of fentanyl in pill and powder form off streets in the Midwest alone. Nationally, the DEA seized enough deadly doses of fentanyl last year to kill every American.
Mike Casale with the DEA’s Midwest Office says fentanyl is now the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45. DEA labs found that seven out of ten fake pills tested contained a potentially deadly dose of fentanyl.
