(Undated) — September is Suicide Prevention Month. Hannah Wesolowski, the Chief Advocacy Officer at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, says those struggling with mental health issues don’t have to feel alone.
Wesolowski says 988 has helped millions who have reached out.
The Centers for Disease Control says nearly 49-thousand people took their own lives in 2024. That’s more than 130 a day or one suicide every eleven minutes. Among veterans, the rates are much higher than the civilian population, as much as 50 percent. The national 988 Suicide and Crisis Hotline is there 24 hours a day to offer help.
