Heather Jean (Dahlke) Haines (45) passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, in Council Bluffs, Iowa at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Heather was born to Eddie and Dinah (Archbold) Dahlke on October 25, 1978, in Omaha, Nebraska as the first of their four beautiful girls. Heather met Heath Haines, and they married on December 10, 1994. To this union, two children were born, Hayden Lynn and Hayley Jean. Nothing made her prouder than being their mother and spending time with family. Okoboji was one of Heather’s favorite places to be and Christmas was her favorite time of the year.
Heather enjoyed working every day at Jennie Edmundson Hospital as she was eager to spend her time helping others and was always more worried about others than herself. Her colleagues and patients recognized her on various occasions for her kindness and genuine good nature. She treasured her friendships and co-workers on the Jennie 4-H floor. Heather was a talented artist and created many projects. Her laugh was contagious, and she was very generous in sharing her laugh in any conversation. She was great at listening to others and gave warm hugs to all those she knew.
Heather is preceded in death by Terry L. Haines, Georg and Else Dahlke, Douglas Archbold Sr., and Marge Archbold. Survivors include her long-time life partner, Heath, and their two children, Hayden Haines and Cherry Budd of Hancock, Iowa, Hayley Haines of Harlan, Iowa, and four grandchildren Louie Swisher, Hudson, Aurora, and Athena Haines. She is also survived by her parents, Eddie and Dinah Dahlke, along with her sisters Melissa Dahlke (Wayne May), Jennifer Dahlke (Brian Conklin), and Elizabeth Dahlke (Kyle Ausdemore), Cyndy Haines, Susan (Bryan) Christopherson, along with many loved
family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church. Casual dress is preferred – jeans and Okoboji attire or Jennie Edmundson attire, in her honor.
Memorials will be directed by the family.
