(Glenwood) Atlantic will send seven to the State Wrestling Tournament next week and captured the team title with 198 points, scoring points in 13 of the 14 matches. Glenwood sent eight wrestlers to the state tournament and finished second with 196 points.
On Saturday, the Trojans qualified five champions and two runners-up at the Class 2A District Tournament at Glenwood.
Braxton Hass (106) pinned Jesse Jens in 3:43 in the finals. Jens qualified for Harlan as a runner-up. Aiden Smith (113), laid down a forty-second pin over Spencer Fink of Harlan in the finals. Fink qualifies for the state tournament as a runner-up. Easton O’Brien (138), pinned Brody McKinley of Harlan in 3:34. McKinley qualifies as a runner-up. Jarrett Armstrong (170) pinned Jayden Dickerson of Shenandoah in 5:58. Evan Sorensen (285) polished off the champions with a fall over Trent Patton of Glenwood in a time of 2:44. Brendan Casey (182), and Miles Mundorf (220), advanced to the state meet as a runner-up.
The Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament is on February 15, 16, 17, and 18.
