(Harlan) On Tuesday, the Harlan City Council approved RJ Bielenberg’s appointment to fill the Ward Four City Council seat, left vacant by Greg Bladt’s resignation on July 19.
“We had two good applicants that went through the interviews last week,” said Harlan Mayor Jay Christensen. “We talked with both of them, discussed a couple of things, and gave us some time to think about that; they were good candidates willing to take a 50-50 shot at it, and both were willing to serve.”
Harlan City Administrator Gene Gettys reiterated Bielenberg’s term runs through December 31, 2023.
Additionally, the City Council reviewed the HHPC Downtown Upper Story Facade grant completion and award requests for $14,013.50 at 1024 6th Street and $5,500.00 for 516 Market Street.
In other business, the Harlan City Council approved the 2022 annual TIF indebtedness certification and approved the Noise Variance Permit for the Shelby County Speedway Tiny Lund Night on September 23.
