(Atlantic) The Atlantic Parks and Recreation Board tabled action on a facility programs/services plan agreement with the Nishna Valley Family YMCA at their meeting Monday evening.
Atlantic Parks and Recreation Director Bryant Rasmussen said at a recent meeting with the YMCA they talked about having a consulting firm come in and facilitate what projects can be done, how much it could cost, avenues they could go after for funding, etc. Basically, the study would put preliminary price tags on everything from a splash pad, pool improvements, things the Y wants to do, and the other top things that came from the strategic planning sessions. The cost of the study is $34,500 ($12,000 for the pre-design phase and $22,500 for a developmental study). The YMCA is wondering if Parks and Recreation would split the cost 50/50.
Rasmussen said for this fiscal year, money would be tight. Board member John Krogman made the motion to table any action.
The facility programs/services plan agreement with the Nishna Valley Family YMCA will be placed on the agenda for the next Park Board meeting scheduled for January 17th at 5:15 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers.
