(Atlantic) Willow Heights, a residential care facility operated by Partnership for Progress in Atlantic, will be closing down.
Steve Baier, Cass County Board of Supervisors Chairman, said the trend now in mental health is to try to offer services, including housing, in the least restrictive setting as possible.
Suzanne Watson, Southwest Iowa Mental Health Regional Director, said they are working hard to help however they can since the region currently funds most of the services at the RCF level of care.
Watson said the employees at Willow Heights will not be out of work.
Watson said her understanding is Partnership for Progress is hoping to have everyone placed into other community settings by November 1st.
Meanwhile, since Cass County is the landlord for the facilities Steve Baier said the Supervisors will be having discussions on whether the county will continue to maintain it and own it, or sell the property.
