(Massena) The second annual CAM FFA Alumni and CAM FFA Chapter Test Plot is scheduled for Sunday, September 19th, at 4:30 p.m.
Melissa Becker, CAM FFA Alumni President, says the alumni and chapter are partnering with CASS Health and ISU Extension for the evening of agriculture at the test plot located on Highway 92 in Massena just north of AgriVision.
Becker says the evening includes two guest speakers; Courtney Fara, Pioneer, and Aaron Saugling, Iowa State Extension Agronomist for Southwest Iowa. The two speakers will talk to the Chapter about their careers and opportunities in the Ag Industry.
CAM FFA Chapter President Mallory Behnken says 11 different seed companies are represented at this year’s corn test plot featuring 53 different varieties of corn on five acres.
Behnken says the alumni provide scholarships to seniors and provides funding for other FFA Chapter events. She says FFA Advisor Gary Miller came up with the test plot idea.
Besides the test plot, the CAM FFA Chapter is preparing for a few more livestock judging competitions, hosting the Ag Olympics at the Middle School during homecoming.
Again, the event starts at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, September 19, on Highway 92 north of AgiVision in Massena. The Cass County Cattleman will be at the event grilling hamburgers for the free meal at 5:30 p.m.
