(Lewis) Cass County Deputies responded to an accident at the intersection of White Pole Road and 542nd Street near Lewis at approximately 8:02 this (Thursday) morning.
Shayeleigh Marshall Julich Howard, of Glenwood, was driving a 2011 Jeep Patriot eastbound on White Pole Road. Anita Marie Riley, of Griswold, driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup, was stopped at the stop sign at 542nd Street. Riley, not seeing the on-coming traffic, pulled onto White Pole Road attempting to go eastbound and was struck by Howard’s vehicle.
Howard was taken to UNMC for treatment. Riley refused medical treatment.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Cass County EMS, Lewis Fire Department and Griswold Fire Department.
