(Story Co.) An Atlantic man pleaded guilty last month to the charge of Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Abuse.
According to court documents, on or about October 3, 2019, in Story County, Iowa, Chase Mullinex did assault a female with the intent to cause sexual abuse without her consent.
Mullinex was sentenced on Friday. He will serve an indeterminate term of two years of prison entirely suspended; pay a fine of $855, 15% surcharge, $90 sexual abuse surcharge and court costs. Further, Mullinex will complete a psychosexual evaluation and mental health evaluation and follow through with any recommended treatment. Mullinex will be subject to the sex offender registry requirements as set forth in Iowa Code Chapter 692A and is subject to the special sentence as set forth in Iowa Code Section 903B.2 for a term of ten years. (During this special sentence, Mullinex will be subject to the rules and supervision of the Department of Correctional Services as if on parole and could be incarcerated for a violation of DCS rules).
