(Moville, IA) — There is a huge game in Class A, District 8 tonight with a title on the line as #5 St. Albert visits #1 Woodbury Central.
The Falcons are coming off a 42-7 win over Akron Westfield — they were last in this position in 2020 when they won a district title and went to the Dome losing in the Semifinals to Grundy Center. St. Albert won 3 games in the next two seasons and then Head Coach Donnie Woods took over. They went 1-8, 3-6, 5-4 last year and now are undefeated. Woods says its a credit to his kids for this journey
Woods was not 100 percent settled on his starting QB and in week one against Tri Center, he put Sophomore Bryce Nelson in the game and he has not come out — throwing for 1,459 yards, 19 TD, only 4 INT.
Freshman Wade Beck is the leading rusher with 647 yards and 9 TD. Junior Cooper Hamilton is a great kicker and punter plus has 18 catches for 419 yards and 6 TD and has 14 tackles on defense. Then there is Senior Ben Krohn who leads in receiving with 29 catches for 388 yards and 3 TD plus is the leading tackler with 41.5.
Woodbury Central is led by Senior QB Jackson Verschoor with 1,295 passing yards, 18 TD and 3 INT. Junior Abe McGill leads in rushing with 1,103 yards and 19 TD. Senior Jayden Lloyd has 32 catches for 522 yards and 8 TD. Woods is impressed with their balance
