(Mills Co.) A man is in custody following a stabbing in Mills County on Sunday.
The Mills County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 12:01 a.m., the Communication Center received a 911 call about an active stabbing that occurred at 8 Garfield Ln in Glenwood. Mills County Deputies and Glenwood Police responded to the address. Responding law enforcement officers located the victim coming from the residence bleeding heavily from the arm. The victim was identified as Joseph Moreno. Mr. Moreno identified the subject that stabbed him as David Duncan.
Law enforcement officers secured the scene and gave immediate medical aid to Mr. Moreno. After clearing the residence and checking with witnesses, it was determined that Mr. Duncan had fled the scene. Law enforcement had Glenwood Rescue come to the entrance of the trailer court to provide further medical aid to Mr. Moreno.
Since Mr. Duncan had fled, a perimeter was set up. A K9 unit from Council Bluffs Police Department, a drone from Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office and Able One from the Omaha Police Department responded to assist. After the arrival of the K9 Unit, a track was started. Shortly after beginning the track, Mr. Duncan was located. Mr. Duncan refused numerous orders from law enforcement officers and a taser was deployed to safely take him into custody with him actively resisting arrest. After he was detained, he was then cleared by Glenwood Rescue and transported to the Mills County Jail. David Duncan was charged with Willful Injury Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
Mills County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Glenwood Police Department, Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office, Council Bluffs Police Department’s K9 Unit, Able One from Omaha Police Department, and Glenwood Fire and Rescue.
