(Atlantic) The Atlantic softball team swept St. Albert in a doubleheader at Atlantic’s newly renovated field on Tuesday night.
The Trojans won the first game 7-2 behind Olivia Engler’s 17 strikeouts. The senior allowed two runs on two hits and walked a batter. Alexis Narmi took the loss allowing seven runs on eight hits, struck out seven, and one walk.
The Trojans broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with five runs on three hits and two errors. Alyssa Derby, Maddie Botos, and Malena Woodward each singled for the Trojans.
Derby and Woodward led Atlantic at the plate. Derby drilled a double and a single, and two RBI. Woodward went 2-4 with an RBI. Maddie Botos, Jada Jensen, Olivia Engler, and Lauren Nicholas each had one hit.
Jessica McMartin went 2-3 at the plate, and Kylie Wesack belted a home run for the Saintes.
Atlantic rolled out to a 15-1 win in the nightcap in three innings. The Trojans scored five runs in the first inning, ten runs in the second inning, and rattled off 14 hits. Olivia Engler blasted a two-run homer in the first inning, and Jada Jensen belted a two-run shot in the second.
Kennedy Goergen picked up the win in the circle for Atlantic. The senior allowed one run on three hits and struck out five batters in three innings of work.
Botos was two for three at the plate with two RBI, Jensen went 3-3 with two RBI, Derby hit two doubles and drove in three runs, Engler went 2-2 with a home run and three RBI, Kennedy Goergen finished with two singles, and two RBI and Maddie Huddleson smacked a triple. Malena Woodward had a double with an RBI, and Lauren Nicholas and Caroline Pellett each hit singles.
Alexis Narmi, Landry Miller, and Anna Helton accounted for St. Albert’s three hits.
The Trojans go to 18-3 on the season and 10-0 in the Hawkeye Ten Conference. St. Albert is 3-7 in the Hawkeye Ten and 4-10 overall.
