(Griswold) The hallways are a little sparse this week at Griswold High School.
COVID cases and quarantines had over 50 people missing from the District at the start of the week. Superintendent Dave Henrichs says three students tested positive late last week along with one staff member. “There was some exposure that occurred during prom. That actually ended up in a quarantine of approximately 52 students.”
Two additional students and one staff member tested positive this week. Several students have already returned to school and others are expected back on Thursday. “When we got notified of the first positive cases, students had already been exposed for about five days, so they didn’t have to sit out much longer. Hopefully we’ll be at the tail end of the positive cases and all of our students can return school here soon.”
At the March board meeting a 7-0 vote made masks required only for in school during the school day and on district transportation effective April 5th. “We changed our masking procedure from all school activities and reduced it to masks required in the school building during the school day and on district transportation. Things like prom, masks were not require. Graduation, they won’t be required. Track meets, because they are outside, won’t be required.”
In other school board news, the list of 30 graduates were approved and the board approved Book Fees for 2021-22 at $30 which is no increase from last year.
