(Des Moines) Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is against “vaccination passports.” She made the comment during her weekly press conference on Wednesday morning.
Some businesses, schools, and political figures consider “vaccination passports” – digital proof of vaccination against the coronavirus. Proponents see this to revive the economy and get Americans back to work and recreation.
Since the start of the pandemic, Governor Reynolds said she’s consistently put her trust in Iowans to do the right thing rather than demand or mandate it, and vaccination is no different.
The Governor intends to fight this through legislation or executive action.
Opponents raise the legal and ethical question people should be forced to prove they’ve been inoculated when the vaccination process is strictly voluntary.
The World Health Organization is against the passports because they have no proof the vaccine stops the spread of the virus.
