Peggy Hartkopf Robinson, age 98, passed away to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Cass County Health system. Peggy was born July 9, 1922, to Glen and Gladys Porch of rural Anita, Iowa. After graduating from Anita High School, she married Donald C. Hartkopf of Atlantic, and they made their home in the Atlantic area.
They were blessed with four children: Nikki Joan (Konecny), Craig D. Hartkopf, John P. Hartkopf and Thomas C. Hartkopf. Later in life they were blessed with an adopted family of Hue and Susan Lien and their four daughters: Linda, Mary, Jennifer and Nancy and their spouses. Her children were a great joy to her, and she was interested in every aspect of their lives.
Peggy was led to the Lord by her mother-in-law Anna Hartkopf and spent many years as a member of the First Baptist Church and the Atlantic Gospel Chapel. She spent her life serving the Lord, helping other people, helping missionaries and ministers and spreading the Gospel. She played a major role in leading her family and many others to the Lord.
Peggy ministered to many families who had lost their children as she and Doc had lost their son, Craig, to polio at age 5 and their daughter, Nikki, to cancer at age 38. She was very involved in the Christian Women’s Club and Bible studies throughout her life. She was also involved in community work, co-founding the Cass County Hospital Axillary. She then became a licensed practical nurse working at Heritage House, Crestwood Nursing Home and the Cass County Memorial Hospital.
Her favorite sport was golf, and she and Doc thoroughly enjoyed playing it for many years. She was a member of the Atlantic Golf and Country Club and Nishna Hills Golf Course for many years. She enjoyed bridge and continued to play and win the game into her 90s. Peggy had a great sense of wit and humor that was in her until her dying breath.
After Doc passed away in 1991, she married Dean Robinson, and they had one great year together before he passed.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother Esther Porch, her husbands, her two children, her daughter-in-law Cathy Hartkopf, her brothers Don Porch, Kent Stockham, and Norman Porch; her sisters Patty Stockham and Carol Andersen; her brothers-in law Nolan Stockham and Lyle Clemsen and her sister-in-law Dixie Porch.
