(Des Moines) Craig Cogil with the National Weather Service in Des Moines reports some impressive snowfall amounts from the system that moved across the state over the past 18-hours.
Cogil says snowfall amounts varied from 9-14 inches, with the heaviest snowfall amounts piling up in parts of southwest Iowa east into central Iowa.
A Winter Storm Warning continues until noon for Crawford, Carroll, Audubon, Guthrie, Cass, Adams, Taylor and Union Counties.
Cogil says an active weather pattern has developed in this region. He says some light snow is forecast for the southern two tiers of counties tonight, and another storm system may move into the region this weekend.
The National Weather Service will release official snowfall amounts in the next couple of hours. Some of the early reports show 14-inches of snow in Panama in Shelby County, Silver City near Glenwood reports, 14 inches, Red Oak, 11 inches, Shenandoah 9.7 inches, and Clarinda, 9 inches.
