(Guthrie County) Guthrie County Health Services asks school districts in Guthrie County to consider lengthening the time students are away from school over Thanksgiving break.
Guthrie County Health Officials recommend that all schools within the county add Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, to the break to keep students off-campus. They say this will allow students and staff to remain at home with their families and away from others for nine-to-ten days before and throughout the holidays. They say decreasing interaction of students and staff and limiting interaction with non-household and family contacts will help stop asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission.
Guthrie County Health Officials also recommend people wear a mask with two or more layers to stop the spread of COVID-19. Wear the mask over the nose and mouth and secure it under the chin. Make sure the mask fits snugly against the sides of the face, and remember that some people without symptoms may be able to spread COVID-19 or flu.
Furthermore, they suggest people stay six feet away from others who do not live in the same household and wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Carry hand sanitizer and use it when you are not able to wash your hands. The sanitizer should have at least 60-percent alcohol.
