(Oakland) Riverside rolls into round two of the playoffs with a lot of momentum following a 53-12 win over AHSTW in round one last week. The (7-1), Bulldogs travel to (5-2), Lawton-Bronson on Friday night. The Eagles advanced with a 14-8 win over Tri-Center in the first round.
The Riverside football program has come a long way since Darrell Frain took over three years ago. The Bulldogs were winless in 2014, 2015, and 2016. They won four games in Frain’s first year, won two games in his second year, and blossomed this season with seven Wins.
Riverside’s defense is impressive, holding the opposition to an average of nine points per outing.
The Bulldogs offense is no slouch, either averaging 34-points per game and 2,782 yards of total offense.
Lawton-Bronson likes to throw the ball with 1,100 passing yards compared to 600 yards rushing. Coach Frain describes the Eagles are athletic, more physical across the front line, but similar on offense.
The game will feature two capable quarterbacks. Lawton-Bronson QB Connor Smith is 80/142, passing for 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns. Riverside’s Austin Kremkoski is 72/140 for 1,204 yards and 16 touchdowns.
