(Anita) CAM returns to the field after receiving an unexpected bye last week. COVID-19 issues forced Fremont-Mills to cancel the game, leaving CAM with an open date. The 5-0 Cougars host 3-2 Stanton in the regular-season finale this Friday night.
CAM Head Coach Barry Bower says they’re looking forward to continuing on this week. He says the coaching staff used the time off to heal and work on the fundamentals.
Coach Bower and his staff are preparing for a Stanton team that runs a balanced offense. The Vikings have 1,566 yards of total offense. The passing game has produced 856 total yards, and the running game an additional 710 total yards.
Viking quarterback Carter Johnson is 59-102 throwing the football for 749 yards and nine touchdowns. In addition to that, the junior signal-caller has rushed for another 255 yards.
Coach Bower says his team is playing with a lot of motivation this week because one, they could finish off the regular season on a high note heading into postseason play. Number two, seniors are playing in their final games and want to finish strong as well.
Coach Bower adds these young players are the future.
CAM enters the contest averaging 55 points per outing and allowing the opposition to 15. The Cougars have run the ball 181 times for 1351 yards and 15 touchdowns and passes for another 341.
Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Anita.
