Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird Sues Company Tied To Chinese Military
(Des Moines, IA) — Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is suing a video surveillance company with ties to the Chinese military. Bird announced on Wednesday she is suing ADI Global Distribution Inc. The lawsuit claims that both of the company’s camera makers are flagged as a potential national security risk to the U.S. It also claims that ADI sold the products from the two companies as their own, deceiving Iowans for years. It was the second lawsuit filed this week against companies aligned with China by Bird.
Woodbury County Court Accepts 18-Year-Old Guilty Plea For Murder
(Sioux City, IA) — The Woodbury County Court is accepting the guilty plea from an 18-year-old murder suspect. It is believed JK Athree was the murderer who stabbed Jermell Ellington 16 times on New Year’s Day. Ellington was found inside a parked car on Cook Street in Sioux City. Athree allegedly asked family members to help cover up the murder and admitted to stabbing Ellington three to four times over issues the two were having throughout the past month. Athree will be sentenced on Friday, December 11th.
Sioux City Residents Plead Guilty To Moving Dead Body
(Sioux City, IA) — A man and a woman from Iowa are pleading guilty to charges for illegally moving a dead body. According to police, 62-year-old Victoria Norton and 65-year-old Abel Rivas removed a deceased person out of Norton’s apartment and placed the man on a chair in the lobby of the building near the elevators. When police arrived, Norton lied to first responders about what happened, while Rivas did not tell them where the man died. Both pleaded guilty to prohibited actions, which is a simple misdemeanor, and were ordered to pay a 250-dollar fine. The deceased man was later confirmed to have died of natural causes.
Giraffe Delivered Without A Heartbeat At Blank Park Zoo
(Des Moines, IA) — Officials with Blank Park Zoo say its baby giraffe was delivered without a heartbeat. The zoo made the announcement on Tuesday night, stating that the calf was mispositioned during birth. The zoo says the calf’s mother Zola is doing well, but they are continuing to monitor her. The zoo was on baby watch beginning last week. They welcomed another calf in August named Kya.
Iowa City Council Meeting Begins With Satanic Chant By Former Council Member
(Ottumwa, IA) — A city council meeting in Ottumwa did not begin as planned. Before the start of the meeting, former council member Matt Dalbey orated a satanic message about the “dark father” and ended the chant with a declaration of “hail Satan.” The meeting continued only after a pastor in attendance demanded immediate action to disassociate the council and the city to what was said in the monologue. Ottumwa Mayor Benjamin Foote requested 30 seconds of silence to allow for prayer or reflection before the meeting proceeded and told Fox News Digital that the comments were, “not a reflection of our community.”
