(Dubuque, Iowa) The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is investigating a boating accident that claimed the lives of two people Saturday afternoon on the Mississippi River near Dubuque.
At approximately 3 p.m., authorities received a report that a boat struck a floating object, ejecting three occupants into the river. A nearby boat rescued one occupant. The other two occupants were recovered and pronounced dead at the scene.
DNR conservation officers, the Key West Fire Department, Dubuque County Conservation Board, and the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The incident remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
