(Atlantic) Atlantic and Creston have had some real battles over the past several years, and this year’s match-up does not appear to be any different. It’s homecoming in Atlantic this week, and also the start of district play for these two Class 3A District #6 teams.
The Trojans finished the non-district schedule with a 2-2 record and are coming off a 56-17 win over Storm Lake last week. Atlantic Head Coach Joe Brummer says the younger players are settling into Friday night football nicely.
Creston, over five games, has piled up 1,117 passing yards and 1,111 rushing yards. Coach Brummer says, defensively, the focus is on rallying to the football.
Panthers quarterback Tanner Ray has thrown for 1,129 yards and rushed for 578. Coach Brummer says Tanner Ray lights up the scoreboard.
Creston’s sophomore running back Gabe Kaufman has 87 carries for 496 yards. Brummer says he is just as dangerous as Tanner Ray.
The Trojans offense is just as dangerous. Atlantic rushed for 455 yards one week ago in the win over Storm Lake. Atlantic tailback Ethan McNeal led the running attack with 269 yards and 4 touchdowns.
We will have the broadcast on KS95.7 F.M., and live-streamed on westerniowatoday.com.
