(Ames, IA) — Iowa St. will try to turn things around this week as they host Bowling Green, coverage on KSOM.
Iowa kicked a late field goal to beat the Cyclones last week 16-13. The ISU defense did a good job generally although Iowa moved the football in the 4th quarter — they moved it enough to get into field goal range twice. Head Coach Jimmy Rogers heard some people blame it on lack of depth but he says that is not accurate
Jaylen Raynor was 10 of 19 passing for 117 yards and a TD versus Iowa — he was held to just 24 yards rushing. Rogers says the plan was not to run him much against the Hawkeyes but the good news is that he was not sacked
ISU came close to some big plays in the passing game but to Rogers close does not mean a thing
On the injury front, Safety Drew Surges is day to day — he has not practiced this week. Beni Ngoyi has had limited practice because of an ankle. Wide Receiver Evan Boyd is out for the year.
Bowling Green comes into Jack Trice Stadium at 0-2 — the Falcons lost 56-7 at Nebraska last week. Jay Kastantin is the QB with a solid 139.9 rating and they have a big tight end Jeremiah Scoby
0-2 Bowling Green visits 1-1 Iowa St., Cyclone Pre Game at 9 am; Kickoff 11 am on KSOM.
