Charges Filed Against Mother In Death Of Newborn Infant In Perry
(Perry, IA) — A Perry mother is in custody following the discovery of her deceased newborn at a daycare center. Police say 20-year-old Stephanie Ubaldo was arrested Thursday and is being accused of taking the life of her own child. She’s facing a first-degree murder charge. Investigators say police got reports of Ubaldo bleeding on Tuesday afternoon at Acorns and Oaks Child Care. She was taken to a local hospital, and Perry Police say officers found the infant’s body in a trash can at the daycare about an hour later. The child was not in the facility’s care. Ubaldo is being held at the Dallas County Jail.

Wells Fargo Announcing 35 Additional Layoffs At Jordan Creek Campus Effective In November
(West Des Moines, IA) — Wells Fargo is announcing 35 additional layoffs in West Des Moines, effective in mid-November. This new round of layoffs is Wells Fargo’s 19th cut to the Jordan Creek campus this year. Those cuts affect 427 employees, according to the Iowa WARN website. Wells Fargo says increased use of artificial intelligence in the banking industry is driving layoffs, which are expected to continue. The bank hasn’t said which departments are seeing cuts.
